Use Living Coral to Create a Comfortable Outdoor Space

It’s warm, it’s soft, and it’s Pantone’s 2019 Colour of the Year – Living Coral. So how are you going to stay ahead of the curve by decorating outdoors with this colour? Luckily, we have a few ideas:

Trend #1: Fabrics for Vinyl Decks and Patios

Finding this colour in cushions and fabrics shouldn’t be too difficult. It also pairs perfectly with greens to create a tropical space. Use it in big swatches to create a statement, or small pieces to add colour without going overboard.

Trend #2: Accents and Accessories

It’s simple to decorate with Living Coral if you know where to look. You might need to whip up a custom batch of outdoor paint, but you can easily cover a few metal chairs or some pots to get the look you want. Other ideas include porcelain statues (big or small) or wooden boxes that can be used for seating or storage.

Trend #3: Wall Art

Gone are the days where the walls surrounding vinyl decks and patios lay bare – decorate! You can find large printed canvas pieces at outdoor décor stores or event Winners, or create your own with some dollar store canvases and a pot of paint.

Trend #4: Plants, Plants, Plants

Coral or soft pink (with a hint of orange) plants aren’t too difficult to find, so consider this an easy way to add Living Coral to your vinyl patio or deck without making a permanent investment. Some suggestions include peonies, daylilies, azaleas, roses, and irises. Plant in your garden or some pots if you’d prefer the ability to rearrange around your deck.

Trend #5: Incorporate Other Colors

A little bit of Living Coral can go a long way if you know how to pair it with other colours in your garden. Some suggestions include deep, dark greens, plums, dark reds, etc. You can choose brighter colours as well (such as light green) to bring more energy to the space. It all depends on your preference, and whether you want the new colour to stand out in the crowd.

Of course, all this planning might be moot if your vinyl deck surface needs a change. How about discussing your vinyl decking project with a Tufdek professional – they can advise on a deck replacement or refurbishment so you can enjoy Pantone’s Living Coral in all its glory!
